An Exercise in Design

An Exercise in Design touched on the early life of Herbert McKim, but the focus of the book was on his impressive architectural career that included the design of the three North Carolina Aquariums. The greatest challenges were helping him select and scan only a few of his thousands of career project slides and talking him into including his important political efforts and leadership achievements. Including the latter provided the reader with a better understanding of Herbert as a person, not just a distinguished architect.
