6 Writing Lessons I Learned in 2018
With 2018 officially closed, I’ve analyzed what worked last year in my writing business – and what most decidedly failed. From that review, I’ve learned six writing lessons. Although I […]
No one wants to think of the inevitable, but everyone – deep down – wants to leave a legacy.
To you, legacy is more than assigning financial assets and divvying up household possessions. It also involves documenting your meaningful life experiences in a manner that preserves your unique personality, wisdom, and beliefs. You want something that will last the test of time, benefit others and provide you with a valuable opportunity for self-expression.
You desire more than a cookie-cutter, fill-in-the-blank book or a notebook comprised of lists or a journal full of random thoughts. No, you want a custom story that portrays your past while imparting your acquired knowledge.
But perhaps you have some doubts. Watch the video and download the free PDF, which dispel some of the most common concerns about life story writing.
Regardless of how “ordinary” you believe your life has been, your life story deserves to be told. But your life story won’t write itself and you don’t have forever to write it. The key is to take action now before it’s too late.
I’m Dalene Bickel, founder of Lasting Legacies. You can read all about me and my credentials on my About page, but I want you to know how happy I am that you’re here. Perhaps you’re here to learn how to write your own life story, or perhaps you’re discovering ways to preserve the stories of your parent or loved one. Either way, gathering information is the first step in addressing your legacy needs.
Ask yourself:
Your written life story allows you to do this, and much more.
I invite you to browse through my website, learn what options are available to you and develop an action plan.
I want to thank you for the smooth process you provided in the publishing of my father’s memoirs. Your patience and prompt responses with my questions were invaluable. Having had no experience, I felt I could trust and rely on your expertise, and we were thrilled with the final product!
Herb has had so many compliments on his book. We are so thankful that he was able to finish it while still able to do so. Thanks to your expertise and steady leadership, it is something that the friends and family will always treasure.
Whether you want guidance as you write your memoir or autobiography, prefer a complete done-for-you commissioned biography, or are seeking a ghostwriter, editor or self-publishing consultant for your nonfiction or historical fiction manuscript, I look forward to providing you with the honest yet supportive feedback you need and the professional services you deserve.
